Based in Missoula, Montana, Adventure Life is an adventure travel company that has received excellent reviews from a number of major publications including National Geographic, Travel and Leisure, and the New York Times. The stellar reviews highlight the company’s tours of Africa, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, and dozens of other destinations. In addition to offering travel options, Adventure Life works to promote sustainability through memberships in organizations such as the International Galapagos Tour Operators Association (IGTOA).

In its efforts to preserve the Galapagos Islands, IGTOA oversees various programs and initiatives, including the Galapagos Traveler Conservation Fund (GTCF), which raises money to protect the islands from threats such as invasive species, illegal fishing, and population growth. Through the fund, IGTOA has supported the Darwin Foundation, WildAid, Darwin Animal Doctors, and other organizations working to improve cargo handling procedures in order to reduce the likelihood that invasive species will arrive on the islands.

The GTCF has also helped fight poaching by helping fund a fishing-patrol initiative led by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. In addition to supporting various organizations through the fund, IGTOA uses the financing to help educate local youth about the priceless natural heritage of the islands. To this end, IGTOA sponsors Ecology Project International, which engages Galapagos youth and teachers in research and other activities focused on local conservation. Packing Light – Tips for the Traveler

Adventure Life reviews destinations across five continents, throughout the Caribbean and the South Pacific, and into the polar regions of the world. With the goal of creating experiences tailored to travelers’ desires, Adventure Life reviews the gamut of their needs and destination possibilities to help each individual have the best experience possible.

A good travel experience depends on packing efficiently. Avid travelers understand that a well-packed suitcase is one that does not include one outfit for every day but instead has basic pieces that can be mixed and matched. A wise first step is to select a basic color palette that will cover all chosen clothes, so that every item will go with a number of other items.

Dressing in layers also helps the traveler to pack as little as possible. Sweaters and shawls take up less space than a winter parka, yet keep the traveler warm when necessary. Although one might wonder what would happen if it becomes colder than average, experienced travelers know that unlikely eventualities should not automatically translate to more packed items. Buying and borrowing typically suffice.

How one packs one’s bag also makes a difference. Folded clothes help to maximize space, but rolling clothes allows even more items to fit into a single bag. Eliminating bulky items, such as shoes or full-sized toiletries, can help the traveler to fit more into a suitcase and thus lighten the traveler’s load throughout the trip.

Africa beckons many travelers seeking adventure and opportunities to view wildlife. Tanzania is one of the most popular draws for those wanting to go on safari and see animals in their native habitats. The country is home to the Serengeti, where lions, giraffes, hippos, and other large animals roam and exist peacefully. Birdwatchers in the region can encounter up to 500 species. Ngorongoro Crater is famous for being one of the largest unbroken calderas in the world and boasts a hearty population of elephants and hippos, as well as zebras and gazelles.

In Tanzania one can also climb to the summit or simply look up at the majesty that is Mount Kilimanjaro, the continent’s tallest mountain. For those who seek out local culture, Arusha is one of the country’s most vibrant cities, and there are also a number of Maasai villages to explore.
